Contact Lens Care

 

All contact lens users should closely adhere to the following measures to help prevent eye infections:

1.  Remove contact lenses before any activity involving contact with water, including showering, using a hot tub= , or swimming.

2.  Wash hands with soap and water and= dry them before handling contact lenses.

3.  Clean contact lenses according to manufacturer guidelines and instructions from your eye doctor.

     - Use fresh clea= ning or disinfecting solution each time lenses are cleaned and stored.  Never reuse or top off old solutio= n.

     - Never use sali= ne solution or rewetting drops to disinfect lenses.  Neither solution is an effective or approved disinfectant.

4.  Schedule regular e= ye exams with your eye doctor.  W= ear and replace contact lenses according to the schedule prescribed by         =             &nb= sp;        &nb= sp;            =             &nb= sp;            =         your eye doctor.

5.  Store lenses in a proper storage c= ase.

     - Storage cases = should be irrigated with sterile contact lens solution (never use tap water) and l= eft open to dry after each use.

     - Replace storage cases at least once every three months.
