What Is It?

Corneal Refractive Th= erapy (CRT) is a new, non-invasive reversible system for achieving great vision a= nd freedom from glasses and daytime contacts.=   CRT Contacts are specially designed therapeutic contacts that are wo= rn during sleeping hours to reshape the cornea, thereby correcting most forms = of nearsightedness without permanently altering its physiology.  (This is especially important in t= he case of children and teens.)    

 

How Do They Work?

Specifically, CRT Con= tacts reduce nearsightedness by changing the shape (i.e. flattening) of the cornea.  Regular contacts are designed to n= early match the shape of the cornea and thereby cause little or no flattening eff= ect.  CRT Contacts are specially designe= d to apply light pressure to the center of the cornea and cause a flattening eff= ect, which causes a reduction in myopia, or nearsightedness.  After the CRT Contacts are removed= in the morning upon awakening, the cornea retains its altered shape and correc= ted focus for all or most of the waking hours.   

 

Most patients see dra= matic improvement in the first few days, with complete vision correction in one or two weeks.  During the transit= ional period of the first few weeks, CRT Contacts may be worn for part of the day= along with other temporary contacts depending on the doctor’s recommendations.  <= /span>

 

In order for CRT Cont= acts to work properly, the recommended solutions and cleaning procedures must alway= s be followed.  In addition, CRT Co= ntacts need to be replaced on an annual basis.&nb= sp;
